The Voice Inside Me That I’m Still Learning to Trust

The Voice Inside Me That I’m Still Learning to Trust

Learning to listen—to the quietest guide I have: myself.

🤐 There’s a voice inside me. But I’ve spent years ignoring it.

Not because it was wrong.
But because it was mine.

Too soft. Too unsure.
Not loud like the world’s expectations.
Not confident like the advice from “successful” people.
Not urgent like fear.
Not popular like opinion.

Just… quiet.
And mine.

🧠 How We Learn to Distrust Ourselves

From childhood, we’re trained to obey.
Listen to parents.
Follow rules.
Take advice.
Seek validation.

And slowly, somewhere along the way, we stop listening inward.
We start outsourcing clarity.
“What do you think I should do?” becomes safer than “What do I feel is right?”

🔁 I Didn’t Lose My Inner Voice. I Just Replaced It.

I replaced it with:

The fear of disappointing others

The need to look like I have it together

The hunger for praise and permission

The myth that someone “smarter” knows better

And in that exchange, I gained confusion.
Doubt.
Overthinking.
Burnout.

🕊 But That Voice Never Left. It Just Whispered.

In the pause before a decision.
In the unease that followed a “yes” I didn’t mean.
In the restlessness after I stayed silent when I should’ve spoken.

It waited patiently.
Until I was ready to come home to myself.

🔓 What I'm Relearning About My Own Inner Voice

1. It doesn’t shout. That’s why it’s powerful.
It doesn’t need to overpower. It simply speaks.

2. It’s not always “rational.” That’s okay.
Sometimes, it’s not a reason—it’s a knowing.

3. It’s often clearer after stillness.
Not scrolling. Not rushing. But pausing.

4. It doesn’t need validation. Only attention.
Even if it goes against the grain, it deserves to be heard.

🧘🏽 The New Habit I’m Practicing

When I feel overwhelmed, I don’t react immediately.
I sit with it.
And I ask quietly: “What do you already know?”

I don’t always like the answer.
But I always feel closer to myself because I asked.

✅ What Next?

Maybe the voice inside you isn’t confused. Maybe it’s just been drowned out.
And maybe it’s time to listen—not to be perfect, but to be aligned.
